Missy Moore was born in Philadelphia, PA, and is a resident of Washington D.C. Her wealth of experience and knowledge in nursing spans over 30 years. She currently is Director of Staff Development at Bridgepoint Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at Capitol Hill. Prior to this position, she was the Director of Staff Development at the Capitol Hill Nursing Center. She is a Master of business development, mentorship, and networking. She owns a consulting agency that provides conference planning and trainings to include leadership among other various topics. Missy’s dynamic contributions to the nursing field are remarkable. She travels extensively throughout the United States training nurses. Missy collaborates with national organizations such as the National Alliance for Wound Care, VITAS Innovative Hospice Care and the National Black Nurses Association to provide educational seminars and trainings on nursing topics such as mental health first aid, wound care, hospice, care of the aging, IV therapy and scope and regulation of practical nursing. Dedicated to growing professional and competent nurses, Missy hosts CEU workshops and meetings for RNs and LPNs throughout the year. Missy is a pioneer. She taught gerontology review classes to 3 cohorts of LPNs licensed in the District of Columbia who were the Nation’s first Group of LPNs certified in gerontology. Missy serves on numerous national boards and is a member of dozens of professional organiza- tions. She is the immediate past president of the National Association of Licensed Practical Nurses, 2008-2012. She is the current President of National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy. She has also served as a board member for the District of Columbia State Board of Nursing since 2005. In 2011, she was a member on the PN NCLEX Item Selection Committee of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. She was appointed to the LPN Standards Committee of the Commission of Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools and to the National League for Nursing Licensed Practical Nurse Ad Hoc Committee. Missy is a Lifetime Member of the National Black Nurses Association, where she also actively serves on numerous committees. Ms. Moore has been honored with numerous national awards for her contributions to the nursing field, to include the 2014 Hospice LPN of the Year from Hospice and Palliative Nurses Association, the 2012 Community Nurse of the Year from the National Black Nurses Association, as well as the 2012 Lillian Kuster Award from the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nurses. Missy earned her LPN degree from Atlantic County Vocational School and a Bachelor’s in Science from Medical Universities of America. She earned her RN at the International College of Health Sciences. She is certified in Wound Care and Staff Development in Long Term Care.
